Will involve shipping but have heard very good results from Tri-City Plating in Elizabethton, Tn and Electroplating of El Paso, Tx. Tri-City can not re-plate the cast alloy turn signal housings. Electroplating can. Special process because of the cast alloy is involved. Even with shipping involved should come in well under $4 grand. I found a chrome shop in Tulsa, Ok a bud of mine had recommended to me. Looked at his bumpers which were done about 5 years ago and look great. Will be taking my GM original bumpers to them within the next couple weeks. Will report back to the board here when finished on the results.
Have contacted both the vendor and western star and was told by both, even though they haven't been installed yet, nothing we will do about it.
Still have the original bumpers but anyone around here in western NY wants 4 grand to do them.
That's a crazy price. I'm sure there are others out there who will do a good job for less. This issue has come up before here. Search a few threads which might be helpful. You might have to ship them.
If you're in western NY, try Sandys Chrome Plating in Syracuse, NY. They have a website. I know it's not right next door, but they do nice work. Had the rear bumper on my '56 wagon rechromed by them, plus other parts and was very happy with their work. Nothing fits like the original. Would use them again, Carmine.
