Just got my bumpers back from the platers and want to know the best way to protect the new chrome. I have tried a search here, but no luck. I do seem to recall reading that a coating of good polish is best.
I like to paint the backside surfaces with Rustoleum (brush on - Silver or Aluminum) and then clean/polish/wax the front side. Wrap back up unless you are going to mount them immediately.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I have never heard about painting the backs, but it sounds like a good idea. That part is hard to see and the paint should closely match the chrome that is there.
For paste wax: Is there a problem removing it later? Or is it best to just leave it on?
As far as the past wax I usually don't leave it on, I apply it let it dry and then buff it off. Many years ago My grandfather used to use Johnson's Paste FLOOR wax. That stuff was tough ! Worked great but had to get it off right away as it got hard. If your in storage there may be other options.

I put a coat of rustoleum on the back side of the bumpers today. They had already started to show small patches of rust. I may go back and put a second coat on the worst spots, especially the rear bumper ends.
While I have the bumpers off I will be re-painting back side ..... will put silver over the black ..... :tu
