Beautiful car. I'm SOOOOO envious of your door gaps. I believe my Belair is a conversion - I'm convinced that the doors and trim was installed by Ray Charles. This being 22 years ago.

Your car AND the paint looks wonderful.

Alright, the porter cable it is then, and the pads you recommended. I am sure the hf works, I am just a bit nervous as there are already one or two places where the paint is very thin so I will be safe rather then sorry. One of these days I might get it painted. Who knows. But right now I am really enjoying driving my old car again so for now a good polishing is it. Many thanks for the input!

Hi..

If it is shellac then it can be re flowed by applying denatured alcohol. use a fine paint (artists?) brush on an hidden spot TEST TRY A SPOT

you will loose the french polish on the spot

Mike - try Star Brite aircraft polish - it really imparts a fantastic shine. Go to Sporty's online as you can only buy it at airports and Its $18 a bottle there but Sporty's has it for $14. I use it exclusively on Belle.

Amazon also carries it, but $27.99 for 16oz bottle with free Prime shipping.
$14.50 is a good price at Sportys, but for my area they want $12.69 for ground shipping.
I also use and like it!
