The stock 5.3 LM7 in my StarChief with just a cold air intake and a tune, would definitely run rings around my old '56 BelAir that had a new 350 crate motor with cam, for sure. I guess the 4L60E probably also makes a difference over the Turbo 350.

What are all you LS guys running for front suspension and steering setups? I canít assume that my existing steering setup is going to work out well lol. I have a feeling itís from a Chevelle, teardrop pump, maybe a 500 box? Iíd have to delve into it more. Are you guys swapping over to rack and pinion setups or keeping the box with pit and etc but a far better/more efficient/longer traveling box?

<<<< dropped spindles, stock springs, sway bar, top control arms with added caster, 0.5" taller ball joints, a good alignment, CPP500 steering box.

Don't be afraid of a 5.3 with such low miles. My wife's Tahoe has 292,000 miles on it and still runs like new. Pulls my car trailer occasionally, no issues. No leaks, no smoke. I've done oil changes every 3000 miles, and figure it can easily go another 100,000 miles without issues.
