That is where I was coming from. Never heard of a 16 spline Chevy yoke.

Much thanks!

4-speeds appeared in Corvettes on about April 9, 1957. 664 Corvettes were equipped with them after that. I'm assuming it was a hot over the counter or dealer install item once available. You've got a pretty early one there, to be sure. If keeping it in the car doesn't matter to you, and the tranny is in good condition, I'm sure you could find a buyer in the $3,000-$5,000 range.
Cool find on the car, how many original owner '57s could possibly still be around?

I don't know how many splines were on the early t-10, but here is a link to a place that sells T-10 mainshafts. You can order up either a 27 spline or a 16 spline........

ALL Chevy trannys up through 63 has 16spline tail shafts, regardless of 3sp, PG, TG, 4sp.
Apr 9, 1957 is the OFFICIAL date for the availability of the 4sp in the 57 Vettes. But without question, a few were installed for testing and development purposes earlier than Apr 9.

Now, here is one for you. In the 1957 (SPECIAL PURPOSE BUILT for Sebring) Corvette SS--------------------------IT HAS AN ALL ALUM T-104sp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the SS has a weird as heck alum bell housing-------------------WITH THE HOLE FOR THE THROWOUT BEARING FORK UP AT THE TOP OF THE HOUSING!!!!!!!!!!! This is NOT hearsay nor rumor, there are documented pictures during the development/assembly of the SS from GM-------with Zora in the back ground of some of the pictures! Some of these pictures would have been taken in late 56, thus, T-10 4sp development was well underway prior to Apr 57.

I stand corrected on 17 spline output shafts. Sorry if I misled anyone.
