What I meant by doesn't matter is that you don't have the traditional bypass. Unless you are only using the block and it has it.

Are you sure it's a 1998 block?

I had three holes in my intake. Originally I used them for heater, stock temp sender and auxiliary temp sender until I realized I needed a bypass hose. So I added a tee in one hole for the bypass hose and one temp sender. I saw Acardon did something like that on his engine. If it doesn't work well I can always move the temp sender to the head. Anyway I now have a bypass hose thanks to everyone on this site. All I need is a hose to the heater and a return hose to the lower radiator hose.

Positive it had a plastic timing cover, Vortec heads, and a roller cam. I just got another one drilled the same way. Date code appears to be 97.

My plan until I found out my Vortec Block was drilled for a conventional bypass was to use a spacer under thermostat housing off a 60s 327 ftom a C-60 grain truck and run a hose to waterpump.
