Default Sedan front door glass removal

At last years nationals, my driver side window somehow dug into the fuzzy on the vent window side post when I was rolling it up and jammed it all up. I was in the staging lanes getting ready to make a fun run so I just dug out the padding in the fuzzy channel and ripped what I could out. Now I have to replace it.

Just looked at a Danchuck video but that video shows removing the vent window first, then the door glass. It that right or can you remove the door glass and glass channel without having to remove the vent window?
