Default Big block 427 power brake booster specs

I'm wanting to upgrade single line master brakes to 11" power brake booster with a double master. Has anyone else done this install and or will it fit. Trying to find out before I buy it. 1955 bel air with 427 with t10 4 speed transmission and still with single master brake = scary ain't it. I have to up grade!

There's no way an 11" booster will clear the valve covers on a big block.

An 8" dual diaphragm booster with an angled mount (most have that) should work.

Another choice would be a hydroboost system.

If the brakes are all in good shape it really would not bother me. Millions of cars drove millions of miles that way.

I'm with Rick on this..8" dual diaphragm booster and the basic inexpensive disc brake conversion up front. standing with both feet on the pedal praying is no fun with a big block 427 car..lol

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a tri five with a big block and have power brake booster installed?

I have a BB w/power brakes. Because of tall v/covers, I had to use a 7" DD booster. Also a couple of flat washers between the firewall & booster on the bottom two mounting studs to get a little more angle on the booster. With stock height covers an 8" booster should work. Good Luck. Larry.

Check your engine vacuum before you buy anything.
If your vacuum is less than 18 pounds forget the power brake booster. Instead look into the hydroboost as Rick says.

You could also check with Wilwood....I understand that their dual M/C performs well without a booster.
