I have never seen a 250 hp. with a 3 speed, mine is a Power Glide.

I actually went to see one for sale in Pennsylvania with that engine code as a 150 coupe. Whether or not it was original is a whole different story. But I'd assume they mainly came with powerglides *and turboglides.

Did the 283hp ever come with PG on passenger cars?

And were there many of the 283hp in the first place – or were most of the FI set-ups 250hp?

There was a documented four door sport sedan at the Nationals that had the 250hp fuel injection and powerglide trans. All original and very well documented.
Black with red interior, I'm sure gertman2000 got a picture of it.

There are several other codes for FI, including "EL' for a 283/283 hp wtih Manual Trans... which is what my 'X' model corvette had in it when I bought it.
