Default 55 Bel Air Fender Spear

What is the easiest way to R & R the fender spear on a 55 Bel Air. Can it be done without taking the fender. Thanks.

No need to remove the fender. On a 55 there is a removable panel on the inner fender. Hopefully you can get to all the clips if you have a long arm. If you can't get to the rear clip someone will let us know. Tom

Unless the back clips are "push in" style (meaning they've been replaced), you'll have to remove the fender. Maybe you can get 1 or 2 more by removing the lower inner fender extension, but I don't think you can get the back one (or two).

Rick is correct with this info, You can't get to the last clips if they are still factory style clips without moving the fender away from the cowl.

I remember seeing a thread about this way back when....However, you may not want to do it....(Not too sure if I would either.)...You can cut access holes fro the inside....This was on a 57 BTW.

Did this on my car (57) when assembling – much easier.

Can't do that on a 55 or 56. The fresh air plenum(s) are in the way.

I just did my 55 hardtop. I had to take fenders off to get the last nut off clip by the door jams. Taking the fenders off wasn't that bad. But my car doesn't have paint yet. Tape everything before doing it. Good luck.
