Chrome Lugnut's 9699 Chevy Corvette Camaro

I have it wired as was told from inforamtion I recieved from a TriFive member. it stated to take a wire from the positive side of battery to the alternator battery on back of alt. Then, I took the #1 white wire on the top of alt. and ran it to a light bulb and attached it to the ign switch terminal. does not work. can anyone help me with this configuration since I do not ahve a conversion kit?
