MaggieDad's 1957 Chevrolet Belair Convertible

This car was in my wife's family for over 30 years when we bought it from her mother in 2001. Her Step-Dad Max Marshall did a body-on restoration in 1980, including the current lacquer paint job. When we got the car it had been sitting in their dirt floor barn for about 16 years, so the expected deterioration had set in including locked up brakes, top hydraulics, rotted suspension bushings and the occasional mouse hole.

After sitting idle at our place for 6-7 years, I finally got a couple of other projects out of the way and started working on the '57. As of September 2010 the chassis has been blasted, brushed and painted, interior removed, engine bay detailed, rack & pinion installed and I am slowly going back together with it. Plans call for a Ramjet 350, TCI 700R4, posi rear, 4 wheel disc brakes, Vintage Air, Raingear wiper system, etc. Our goal is to have a very subtle look with all modern drivetrain so we can drive the wheels off of it! Probably will go with Cragar SS wheels for the retro '60's look, maybe lower a tad, but maintain the overall stock appearance.

The first picture is how it appeared in 1989. That is Mother-in-law and our two sons who are now 26 and 22 years old.
