  3. Transmission and DriveLine Questions
Quick backstory. So I purchased a 57 150. Previous owner passed away. All respect to the dead, but they knew nothing about building cars whatsoever. Metric bolts in SAE threads everywhere (including wheel nuts and crank bolt). Turns out they meddled with the rear end and drained the gear oil. I...
  4. Transmission and DriveLine Questions
Hey everybody! The 3:73 or whatever is the original 6 cyl gears in my 1956 150 are too low. With a Turbo 350, the engine RPM is way too high (4000-4500?) at 60 MPH. I have been told the 55-56 rear ends are not durable, and will fail eventually even when just used in a "cruiser". Should I... 1)...

  10. Classifieds Section - For Sale Items ONLY!
I am looking to sell the complete but internally-damaged 10-bolt rear end (and drums) off of a 1955 Bel Air. The rear differential had something around a 4.11 gear from what I was able to calculate. It whined terribly and I was worried it would seize/explode. Instead of rebuilding the stock...

  14. Transmission and DriveLine Questions
:confused0062: There is a 8.5" 10 bolt under a dead 75 Elky which I wanted but I needed to find out the gear ratio before laying out some green. The axles were covered with oily dirt crap so it was not possible to harvest some helpful numbers. But I knew I could find the ratio thanks to a...
