Hi- I am new to this- I have a 1955 chevy, 6 cyclinder engine
Is the air filter supposed to have oil in it- if so, how much oil to you use and what weight do you use- mine has this metal meshed part at the bottom- are you supposed to replace this (if so,where do you get it) or just clean it (if so, what do you used to clean it). If anyone can answer these questions, I would appreciate it.

If you have the original style air cleaner it requires oil as well as the mesh grill at the bottom. The cleaner is one piece apart for the plate at the bottom where the mesh is that is removable. You also have a filter at the snout that can be replaced before it goes into the carby.
There are people that either stick with the oil which can be messy or remove oil and place a paper type filter at the bottom. If you choose a paper filament make sure the diameter is the same and that it is NOT too thick as it will raise the cleaner therefore not allowing the hood to close. :anim_25:
