2 questions re: AC controls

Recently I made a vow that by next June I would have COLD air blowing in my face. My car did not have a deluxe heater in it when I found it and every car I have seen with Vintage Air uses the deluxe heater control. Does any one have a pic of the deluxe heater control assembly? Also does any one have a parts car that has the deluxe heater that they will consider selling the control unit?

Mickey, with Vintage Air, they send you a deluxe heater panel, with the heat and air controls already built in, with new cables, the works. It is a super fine unite. Couldn't live without mine. Charles :wavey:
charles are you saying that all I need to buy is a Bezel for the deluxe heater?
Not true. They send you the parts to convert your deluxe heater control to function with their system.

You need the chrome bezel, the two vertical levers, and the plastic knobs and small hardware. They provide you with the fan switch and clear plastic lens with the functions marked, as well as the micro switches that go on the back side.

You can also buy a custom generic control from VA at extra cost. Some guys use that and mount it in a custom console.

It probably would be a good idea to download the instructions from their website. This will clearly show what they provide and what you need to provide.

Mickey, maybe they have cut costs and don't send you the chrome heater controls, but 12 years ago I received the entire control with the a/c - heat insert with levers, knobs, and the works. Maybe it has been changed since then. Still, it is a nice setup and works trouble free. Charles :wavey:
From what I have read Rick is correct. You HAVE to already have the deluxe controls (which I don't).

I'm looking at this instead:

I bought a Vintage Air system last fall. My deluxe heater control came from ebay. There are several for sell on there now. just type in "57 heater control." The Vintage air system comes with a new plaque for Heat,Cool, FLOOR-DASH-DEFROST, etc but does not have the bezel and levers.

You also need the frame that everything attaches to, just the shiny stuff wont get you there.
