This is an amazing story. My '57 used to be my dad's car. I rode with him in it around Lexington Kentucky when I was little, and it was the car that started my passion for cars. My dad had to sell the car during a move, and my brother was being born about that time, but my grandfather bought it and promised to give it to me when I was old enough. Fast forward 17 (ish?) years, and now it's mint, and mine. I told my dad I was going to the Nationals this year, and he was going with me, I wouldn't take no for an answer. I'm super glad he gets to go and enjoy this with me, in a car we share so many memories with. The first show in 2015 was pretty magical for me anyhow. For a lot of reasons. There were quite a few older men with cars they had owned for a good many years. Some of them were clearly not in very good health. Others were apparently not and may not have known it. Some I never saw again. One, a really nice man, a member here Lloyds55, was over at the trifive.com tent. I was talking with Lloyd, who had built his car late 70s or so if I recall. then he ended up chatting with my son who was 19 at the time. He and Lloyd were talking trifives. After, Lloyd told me never in his life did he ever think that a man his age would be talking trifives with a person my son’s age and that he could not wait until the 2016 show. Unfortunately Lloyd passed before the 2016 show. I knew right there and then that I wanted to make the most out of every one of these shows because there will come a time when I can’t so I definitely get the shenanigans going, fun runs, laughs with friends, a cold libation here and there, and meet all the nice people that I can. Life is short!
I’m going for two main reasons - parts shopping, and idea shopping.I see alot of comments on waiting to get your car done. That is not a requirement, and sometimes you need to meet other Tri Fivers that may have what you need to complete projects, or at least additional motivation. This venue and city are a great place to be in Aug.
There have been 7 Nationals. First 6 I went without a car. 7th I went with a quasi-running car. Hopefully 8th will be the charm. Point is, its just as much, if not more about the people you make friends with and share a common interest than the cars.I see alot of comments on waiting to get your car done. Eldon,Update! I spoke to Woodys and have secured a spot ahead of time for the TriFive.com tent. I have added the location to the first post. We will have a tent and I will bring a solar panel setup to keep a power station charged with cords so people can charge up their phone or camera if needed. It will be in the shade and I will see if we can get a pallet of water there too.
It is under the big tree along the fence line to the campground on the east side. Easy to find us!

Good job as usual. You driving Bertha this year?
Larry
There is a decent chance we may be able to work that into reality. That's where I met Eldon a few years ago. I think the spot should be declared TriFive.com territory indefinitely.
It may be easier than earlier in the year, there are always a few that drop out but some that register last minute.Just signed up for 2023, now I need to find a room.
I know, I know, I’m late to the party.

This will be my first Tri-Five Nationals, so I made sure to register early lol. My registration info came in about two weeks ago, and I'm in the low 700s. We booked an AirBNB about 15 minutes from the track with a garage. Good luck on the room!!Just signed up for 2023, now I need to find a room.

Did you find a room John? The last couple of years, last minute rooms didn’t seem to be a problem. I waited til the last minute my first time at Nationals back in 2017. The closest room I found was 25 miles away.Just signed up for 2023, now I need to find a room.
