So i just got my hands on a 1956 265, its in great shape except its already bored .080 I was thinking taking it as far as .125 and making it a 283. So outer than that and the issue with the distributor oiling groove, whats the difference between a 265 and a 283?

Doesn't sound like it's in that great of shape to me. If you have checked and confirm that it can indeed bore out to .125 without problems, what's wrong with otherwise keeping it a 265 everywhere else?

I had a 265 bored out to 283 in my first 55 in high school. The car ran good but if you shut it off and did not let it cool down it would turn over slow and did not want to start hot.The walls are to thin.
