Hey all. I've got a couple questions that have been puzzling me all weekend.

1. All the assembly pictures show the 6 cyl radiator hose going OVER the tie-bar between the fenderwells. I'd have to raise my radiator about 2 additional inches to clear a new bar. Mine has been cut-out by the previous owner. Since I'm moving the radiator from the 8 cyl. position with home-made brackets, do I have to leave the bar cut out or can I put a new bar in between the fenderwells and let the hose go over the top of it?:confused0006:

2. My doors fit perfectly until I installed the new door gaskets--now the door sticks out about 1/4" from the "flush" position--what gives? How do you fix this? More door adjusting?:confused0006:

3. I'm getting ready to install my sound-deadening and insulation stuff. Does that stuff go on the inside surface behind the door panel or actually inside the door cavity on the outside metal skin?:confused0006:

Thanks ahead of time for any responses and help. :wavey: JIM.

1. not sure...need pics....me no understand'o..lol
2. Sill shouldn't be that stiff. It may be pinching in the door frame. May just need to adjust again. Can you push on the door and it go in?
3. behind door panel. It's just to keep the sound down a little. Putting it inside the door would be difficult.
Hope this helps.

Jim....Trying to figure out this one:confused0006: A '57 6 cyl radiator hose inlet is off to the driver's side, as well as over the bar....The hood air baffle is cut-out for the 6cyl hose.

However, sounds like you are putting an 8cyl radiator ahead of the bar....Unlike the 55/56, the 57 bar bows up slightly in the middle...Also, a 6cyl and V8 radiator both have the upper inlet in the center on the 55/56.

Personally, I've not done the conversion....However, if your top radiator inlet is in the center, you'll also have to modify the the hood air baffle.

The door weatherstrip is most likely too hard, many venders sell one that is... Softseal and a few other companies make one that works well...

1st set I installed I couldn't even close the doors, then bought another brand and they closed good...

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the responses guys. I "think" my door seals are from Mutton Hollow...not sure of the brand. I started installing the sound deadener today also. David I was afraid someone would tell me that. I do have the 8 cyl radiator and the inlet is centered. Do they make a modified hood baffle that has the indentation in the center? I guess I should plan on keeping the notched bar in the front too. I'm just not happy with the way it looks up front. I can't afford one of those elongated units (like Griffin makes) or that's what I would have purchased. Stuck with what I have and just need to come up with a way to make it look right and not hacked up. Pic's anyone? :sign0009: JIM.

Jim.....They don't make a modified hood baffle that I know of.....You'll have to modify your own or find someone that has a '57, 6cyl radiator that they are getting rid of.

The crossbar ties and helps support the front fenders alignment if you have it cut out then the "U" support and the radiator are stressed sometimes its enough to cause the framework thats soldered to the radiator to come loose.

I was thinking the same thing. Thanks Robert.

What do you guys think of this one? I could sell mine perhaps and put a little extra into this one. That way I could run a solid crossbar. I could also polish this unit myself. Need some feedback. Thanks Much, JIM.

same one.

Jim....Just MHO....Unless you are having cooling problems, you can get by with something much cheaper.....Check with Terry......I believe he got one for his '57 in the $250 range on ebay and is quite happy with it.

Checked through my saved ebay sellers....This is the one Terry has I believe:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1955...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
David, that's the same one I have now. I guess I'm confused about the inlet. I haven't test-fit my hood or fenders yet but I thought that it would require modifying the hood brace (baffle) with the inlet being in the center. Did Terry have to modify his? I think I'll post some pics tonight to explain my concerns a little better. Thanks for the info! :blowtiedb: JIM.

Jim....Don't know if Terry had to modify his or not.....I thought the photo of the radiator was a generic one.....So didn't think much of it.....Also, when they said 57, 6 cyl, I ASSUMED  that the upper inlet would be on the driver's side....Maybe they have a different radiator for the 57 application and sent you a 55/56????
