I purchased a new Gear Vendors 700r4 with 2500 stall converters and corvette servo's good for 600 hp for 2400.00 new.
Great for crusing with the 4th gear.
Not that anyone needs that much, but I bought for the future, but good used
or rebuilt are all over for much less. Good Luck.:sign0020:

Am I picking up an overdrive vibe here?

Find yourself an overdrive!

The main difference between the TH 200-4R and the TH 700-R4 are overall length and gear ratios. The 700 is 3" longer than an iron 'glide, has more heavy duty internals, but a pretty wide 1-2 gearspread.

The 200 is the same length as the factory tri-five trannies.

That depends on what you want out of the car, cruising, chirping, wheel spins etc etc.

The original 2 speed powerglide will do just fine but alot of guys like the turbo 350 or 400. As of late gear boxes with over drive are popular like the 700 :anim_25:

have 350's in both of mine and work just fine. had a 700r4 in a 55 I had and it was even better. also had a 57 with a pg and was also a fine tranny. conclusion, 700r4 if I have to get a new one. :tu
