Ever have apprehension to go to the garage and work on the 57 . Today one For me. That danchuk new sending unit 5/16 axle isn’t right . The new line is interfering with gas tank strap and bracke.
I spent a lot Of time trying to make it fit . Kinked new Steel line , I’m trying to install . Just can’t get it to line up correctly .
I did a search and I see-another post where the guy had same problem.
I m going take the new sending unit out , and try and bend the tube some more .
im posting this now ,wait awhile, suggestions.
if I kink the new tube , going to be really upset. I waited a month to get this part because of vendor supply issues , and now this .

Below I have added photos of an original untouched 5/16 sending unit that was removed from my car. The angle for the output line is 50 degrees from the flat part that seals with the gas tank. You can see the line is also slightly bent at an angle too in another photo. I had the same issue you are with a 3/8 sending unit that would not clear the gas tank strap and had to bend the output line.

These sending units are also bent wrong at the float tab, causing them to not read accurately. I am happy to provide this angle as well that you must bend the reproduction to. I have bent the reproduction angle to match the original on two cars now and the gas gauge reads absolutely perfect.

I also added a photo comparing two original untouched sending units against a reproduction where you can visually see the differences. The real issue here isn't that we need to be performing all these steps, its that these parts are being made without any obvious testing for fitment and use and being sold to work at a premium.

Sure I need all the info I can get , I’m not sure what the float angle is ?

I compared it to the old one sender I took out . Bent it to the old sender line . Went in beautifully.
But new 5/16 steel line had to many twists to rebends ( from trying make it work to the poor alignment benton new sender as sent )in the line that I went to hand bend 5/16 line to line up with body clip , the line fractured at a kink ( bent to much stress fractured. . Not sad ! I needed to start fresh and just go on ,taking a break and get after it again.
everything take three days with this after market parts projects .

No problem! I downloaded a cool protractor app, this should help more. Sorry to hear the line kinked, either way, you know what you have to do now.
