'55 210 Power Mirror Conversion?

I hope this is the correct place to ask these questions, if not let me know and I will move it.

First question, I have a '55 210 and the driver and passenger mirrors are located on top of the front and right fenders, not the doors, is this a stock option or was this done after market? The guy I bought it from said it was an executive model and why the mirrors were where they are but I haven't seen others in that location.

Second question, does anyone know of a power mirror conversion for these? Obviously since they are out on the fenders there is a very practical application for power here since I cannot reach them from inside the car and currently they do nothing more than look good, they serve no functional purpose at this point.

Thanks for the help as always!

hi hank. i think that was a dealer installed option. i gues they could put them any where, but most seem to be on the door. the one on my 56 is on the fender and like it there. plus won't come loose from opening and closing the door. :D

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the install(dealer done or not). And I agree on the location as far as looks and not coming loose, but I would to make them useful.

My first 55 (in 1959) had the mirrors on the fenders and they were the tri bar yankees. I bought a good pair just a while back but decided not to mount them on the doors where mirrors were already located.

From what i have been able to find out, they were mounted on the doors if ordered from the factory with mirrors. If not then most dealers mounted them on the fenders. The fenders is where mine are mounted too.
