Hi everyone. Just a dumb question. Are all 55-57 frames the same?
from the front xmember back they will all fit each other, 'cept of course the convertible frame is a convertible frame.

55/56 are the same, with the exception of the rear spring hangers. 57 front end is bobed and holes are different for mounting different bumpers. 56-57 rear spring hangers are the same. Hardtops and converts have one more body mount per side. (plus of coarse the x member) Sedans and wagons are pretty much the same. 4 dr hardtops are a breed unto their own due to moveing mounts for central bracing.

Thanks everyone. I have decided that my 55 former gasser is going to get restored. I will be cutting the front stub off this 57 frame and going with the straight axle.

The rearmost bumper bolt hole is 1/2" further forward on a 57 frame than a 55-56 frame. You will have to re-drill your 55 bumper bracket or move the hole on the frame.
