Currently my 55 Chevy does not have a front bumper. I go back and forth on wether or not to put one on. Some members of my family think I need one and some don’t. What are your opinions on a front bumper for a 55.

IMO, I don't feel it's necessary and not sure the level of protection (if that's what they are thinking) that it would actually provide. It would definitely ruin the look you're going for.
I had a two door post similar to yours in 1966 that I sold before going into the Army. I went without the bumper as well but I also removed he two corner pieces that are under the parking lights, I liked the look. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures. I asked about that before and a member provided some shots of a 55 set up that way. I think your ride looks great!

I think it's perfect
I had a 55 back in the 70s with no bumper or lower fillers but a bar across the two mounting tabs. I had later painted it flat black and I thought the car just looked mean and liked it just as it was.

I've always thought it would look good to have a camaro style front spoiler. I envision a piece that would fit the profile along the lower edge of the grill and the parking lights and fit up to the lower edges of the the fenders like the splash pans do and then transition into a spoiler.
Gone through the same quandary. They look great either way.

Thanks everyone for your opinions and I will keep my car the way it is, so no front bumper.

If you still have the front bumper store it away, your car your choice looks good as is but if you ever sell purchasers may want to have the front bumper.
You ever get in a fender bender and have to replace a bunch of parts due to not having a bumper and you might change your mind.

I'm in the same boat with a brand-new front bumper in the box. I was going to put it on after I fixed up the front clip a little better. But it is lighter in the front without it.

Unfortunately when I purchased the car it had no front bumper, that is why I was thinking about buying one , I do love the look without the bumper but friends and family always ask if I would put one back on . I also want to mention that I appreciate all the knowledge that the members have about these cars and it’s been very helpful so Thank You.

Details for what it’s worth.
Took two 55 stock cams, cut and joined w/ a tension pin and weld. Son of a gun to weld oil saturated cast. Total length required indicates its for a 14 cylinder 🙀

Personally I'd run a bumper.
They look like they are "trying too hard" if it's not a full gasser build and no front bumper.

Not so sure. I think with that flat black paint it looks pretty good
In my opinion.. A gasser can go either way (bumper or no bumper) There's no wrong or right. Heck...you could even paint/powder coat the bumper black and still be good.
