I need a dome light assembly for my 56 2dr sdn . Does the light come as an assembly - mounting base & lense? Is there a rubber grommet that i need also? Seeing a lot of different options.

Not sure why you would need a rubber grommet. There was no grommet on mine when i tore it down.

do yourself a favor and get the LED bulb for it . makes a huge difference.

I've got LED dome lights in both of my hotrods, and my '69 Suburban, and love them! When you want a dome light, it's nice to have one you can really see well with!

Mine never gets past warm, even if left on for half an hour.

On the other hand, I like the yellow glow of a real bulb so no LED for me. Now of course as each year passes, and my eyes get older and older, that may very well change, lol!
