I am restoring my factory oil bath 4bbl air cleaner. Is there a way to separate the inner unit (that houses the filter screening), so I can bead blast the metal part? I don't plan to go with an aftermarket paper element, only the oem oil bath.
You can get them completely clean using a solvent bath, or give it to your engine rebuilding shop to put into their solvent bath. The fibers will not breakdown.
When I did my 2BC Oil bath air cleaner, I just used strong hot simple green solution, and rinse with hot water until it had no discoloration.
