I am restoring the heater in my 57 which has the standard round heater box. The heater core and fan function well, but the lever on the box which controls the defroster air flow is not working correctly. Having never seen another one in person, I am guessing the lever is not aligned properly because of missing bushings.

I can't seem to find a bushing on any of the restoration sites. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a similar part that might work? Attached is a picture of a heater box I found online showing the part I am refering to. Thanks!

I have a stock standard heater that i had out of a 56 parts truck,it is round
like the one you show,But it does not have that corrugated section on it like the one you are showing! i know it has a manual lever on the outside of it,would have to crawl up in my garage attic to find it and take a look at for you if you'd like?
That's going to be a HOT job tho this time of year, LOL

No, don't go up in the attic just for this! The heater box I have looks just like the one pictured about except for one detail. Instead of the perforated metal for the floor vent, mine has harware cloth or a square metal grid. Thanks!

Are we talking about a truck or a car? I know nothing about trucks. But if it is a car, not sure what you have there, but it's not a 57 standard. I just removed a deluxe (to gain room under the hood) and installed a standard. Here are a couple pics. first the heater itself under dash, second side view under dash where duct connects and third heater duct with heat/defrost damper (the dark piece) and the defroster duct. Note the rh side of the heater duct attaches to the fan housing as seen in pic 2. Hope this helps.
