The tail shaft housing on my 87' 700r4 came with a speed sensor, and I am replacing it with a mechanical drive and driven gear set up, but the new speedo housing won't fit and there is not enough room for the driven gear. The new driven gear has a pilot end on it and my housing does not have a hole for it to ride in. My tail shaft housing measures 7 1/2". What housing that has the pilot hole do I need? Thanks. Ted

That is a very informative article. After reading it I determined I need an 82 to 86 700r4 tail shaft housing. First thing Monday morning I'm taking my measuring tape and going to the local junk yard and see if I can find one 7 1/2" long; unless one of you all have one that you would sell me. Thanks a million. Ted

I used that when I built my XJS

put a TPI -350 / 700R4 in to Jag XJS,
sweet ride, pissed off all the Jag lovers, LOL
but was reliable as all get out, unlike most Jags.
