What's the consensus on replacement hood hinges these days? My 57 hood almost stays up, tried new springs, no help. I don't need beautiful hinges especially if they don't work. I'm leaning toward just plain new stock hinges, my car is a driver/cruiser, but I don't mind spending a little more, I just remember reading lots of posts about the neato gas-shock hinges not really working well. Anybody use the Mutton Hollow hinges?

No idea what Mutton Hollow sells.

A friend put some stainless steel hinges that are made like the stock ones on his 57. They worked well.

There can't be too many different manufacturers of this part.

Replace with stock set you should be fixed.

If the hood almost stays up it could be that the pivot points are loose, a hammer and new rivets may fix your old ones.

Got mine from Mutton Hollow for my '55.
They work just fine.
