funny. ya look at so many cars, then something hits ya. a few short years ago, i had a 4 inch tall air cleaner on my `55, with an edelbrock duel-plane. i loved the way it looked. AND, i did`nt realize how i was helping the engine breathe.now, on my `57, i have a Weiand Stealth, HIGH-RISE manifold. i had a 3 inchX14 air cleaner. so, i got to thinking about my 4 incher from my `5. so i put some putty on my air cleaner cover, slam the hood. open it up, by geez, i have 2, 2 1/2 inches of clearance. so, i got a 4 inch tall filter. here`s the catch. go a website and figure out how big an air filter you REALLY need! for instance, i think it was K & N`s site. ya punch in your engine and it`ll let ya know how big a filter ya need. so, AFTER i installed the 4 incher i stumbled on this. sure enough, my combo calls for 3 1/4 inch tall filter. SO, it was actually choking before i put the 4 inch filter in. just a little info i stumbled on, hopeing someone could benifit by it.:shakehands:
