The dash is gorgeous in them
I think they are in a contest----who can build the most unattractive design.Does GM-Ford-Mopar even have a design dept any more??????????????????????????
YOU ARE TOTALLY, COMPLETELY, EXACTLY, 100% CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IMHO, I think they've all tried to find the perfect aerodynamic design in order to improve gas mileage. Once you find the perfect shape, the only thing you can change are the headlights and taillights. 50s designs were out to dazzle the public. Today we have ho hum.
This. There are three areas auto manufacturers can improve efficiency in cars/trucks.IMHO, I think they've all tried to find the perfect aerodynamic design in order to improve gas mileage. prolly a 371 with tri-powerMy Grandfather had a deposit on a 57 Chevy Belair Black with Red interior. As I remember the story as told to me, when the car came in the dealer jacked up the price as they were a hot commodity , well he marched right over to the Olds dealer and bought a 57 Olds Super 88 off the showroom floor. Beige with red interior, I remember my dad said it had some special engine in it. He drove it over to the Chevy dealer and showed it off to the salesman. OH well ! I kinda remember it was one sharp car and it would move.
The J2? Older friend of mine was talking a couple weeks ago about the one he had in the early 60s. Said it would fly! Scared himself with it 😄prolly a 371 with tri-power
There's just something stylish about them. This sits next to my '55 in the garage. Has the J2 setup under the hood too. Currently swapping on a power disc brakes conversion so it has a chance at stopping. The factory stuff was only good at slowing it down.![]()
I just love 57 oldsmobiles
