My newest project is a '63 Impala. It's a car I never considered but then again I never considered a '62 'Vette either.
I am really getting caught up in it. and I may consider flipping my two new projects and do a frame off restoration of the Impala...but I need help. I can't fully decode the Trim Plate.
The Impala has a Mr Goodwrench 350 with a Powerglide, but I don't know how it came out of the factory. I have a 396 with aluminum 4 speed. and I also have 327 short block.
The car came in a Autumn Gold color...I think it looks awesome.
I am posting the Trim Plate, I hope someone here can help me decipher the Trim Plate.
Thanks,
Bob

I bought a 63 one time for 300 bucks. 6 cyl automatic with under dash air. Had a lot of surface rust where it had sat out unprotected but not one dent in it . Was a creamy white with red interior. It had a lifter noise in it and at sometime it had broken a pushrod and someone had actually braised it back together. I went to salvage yard and bought a push rod for a buck. Ran like a top. Painted the car. Back then I think I had like 75 bucks in material. Glass and carpet was great and had some faded red seat covers on it. I removed the seat covers and evidently they had been put on when car was new and underneath the originals were perfect. Drove it for about a month and I had it parked at the Texaco station I worked at and a guy was looking at it and wanted to know if it was for sale. I sold it to him for $1500 and that was like a fortune to me back then. Now, wish I still had it. Would bring a pretty penny today.

From the data plate it's a real SS car. Came with red interior and autumn gold paint (weird). The only thing you can tell from the VIN is if it was a V* or 6 can't determine which V8

In case you wondering, the trim; 875 is listed as vinyl buckets seats, only SS cars got buckets seat-no exceptions or wives tales
Listing for 875: The original color of your interior is: Red. Material type is: Vinyl (Impala SS coupe) Seat type: Bucket

1950-1963 Chevrolet Accessory codes

1C = body built the the third week of January.
VN = Fisher Body Plant Van Nuys California
E = Tinted glass
2CM = padded dash and center console
3Z = Super Sport (perhaps SS dash and exterior trim?)
21 = ?

With bucket seats and a console there is no doubt it's a real SS.
Here's what all that looks like since being abandoned for 32 years.

Of the Tri-6s my hands down favorite is the 63. I had a 63 wagon for several years and I'd love to have a 63 Hardtop. Good for you. Have fun with it, those were fine looking cars. Fix the sweet old beast up and start a tri-6 website if none already exist!

It looks like it might have a clutch pedal. The dash has a vent for factory AC and a hole for a factory tachometer. Tachometers were standard on cars with 4 speeds with engines 300hp and above and optional on everything else. Does it have factory AC?

The ashtray is from a 1964 car.

With the car equipped as you point out that had to have been an impressive car whether a 30hp small block or some flaor of 409. If the car has good bones it would be a great restoration project in my opinion. The only downside to that era car is the X frame but that can be remedied I believe.

Farmboy, you know your Impalas my friend. It's my bad. That picture is of a '64 dash that belongs on a '64 Impala 409 4dr ht.It's missing the powertrain. Body is pretty straight but all of the panels and doors have rust at the bottom. I can probably pick it up for a couple of grand. I may do it if it was a 4 speed,
I'm posting the correct dash.
