No big junkyard Carmine. Sometimes we just have to dig, scratch and claw to find something worth investing in. Another guy at an old farmhouse nearby just showed me a 1960 Apache stepside, and a very nice 70's F150 or F250. No price yet.

Got the Impala delivered today, Got it rolling on an old set of chrome reversed rims (14'sX8). The car has a high stance. I saw where they had used spacers on the springs. They might have been using larger tires.
About one week of sanding and buffing and the car might be ready for some Autumn Gold paint. Gotta drain oil from motor and tranny. Any thoughts on which oil I should use? Motor does turn.

The Goodwrench 350 motor I've heard is a good engine. The heads with a right angle pyramid I've heard comes with a 350ci 300hp. I don't know for sure but I think it's late 70's early 80's vintage. I don't know if that's good but I have a 350 with a roller cam in my Nomad which has done 15 flat in the 1/4. I'm posting a pic of the head. Might put a 700R4 behind it.

Thanks for those pics Bob. I could look at that stuff all day long. A friend had a '63 Impala SS with a 283/automatic. Gold paint with black interior. Beautiful car. Please post more pics as you make progress. Thanks, Carmine.

I see some of that GM corporate blue peeking thru, that started in 1978. And I see a Rochester 2G, I'd guess 200 hp. I doubt it's a roller motor, whatever oil you put in should have some zinc.

The heads are 1.94/1.50. Goodwench 350 rated at 300hp. Mild roller and 600cfm Holley should give me 350hp...yes no?

Nothing special 76 CC heads from Mexico, a 300 hp 350 had 64 cc 186 or 041? castings. A 600 cfm carb is a downgrade from a q-jet, you would be lucky to get 250. these motors were about 8-1 compression.

Found this for you Bob,
Chevy 350 Crate Engines
Many companies offer new and rebuilt Chevy 350 crate engines for sale. Among them is Mr. Goodwrench, which produces new Chevy 350 crate engines in numerous configurations. The base version of this engine makes 195 horsepower and features an 8.5 compression ratio. These engines are available in 2-bolt and 4-bolt versions; those intended for cars built after 1987 have an enhanced hydraulic roller lifter camshaft for better performance.

Going by the marking on the head this

is an 041 casting made in 69-70. I’m going by what I read online in head I’d descriptions.

Those heads 041 were never on Target, Goodwrench replacement motors. This triangle thing is a new one on me, never paid any attention to markings after 186 casting, My dirt track friends liked 041s because they looked generic. Maybe someone can give use the answer.

This is the plate I removed from the car. It shows the last year it was registered. The engine shows a little more wear than two years.

You'd have to go to the El Centro/imperial/calexico area Carmine. It's a way of life for many

This past summer I had upwards of 250 employees. One lady in particular has been with my company for over 20 years. She lives in a double wide a couple of miles from work. She raised three kids by herself, bought each one a car when they turned eighteen so they could drive to college. She was one of our award recipients last year. She still lives in the DW.
When the union came knocking on her door last year, she told them to go to hell and that she thanked her lucky stars my company was there when she needed help the most.
Dont come down on people who live in mobile homes. They house some of the hardest working most devoted people I know

Looking at your '63 Bob, kind of rekindled an interest in one. When I was 17, I had a '63 Impala convertible. Loved that car. Thought a lot about it today and went on line and took a look. Saw a few 409/425 (that engine is kind of a must) 2d ht's that looked quite nice for the money. I can be very spontaneous, so sometimes I never know what I might do. I really don't want another car, but if the right one came along, you never know. Speaking of the right one, many years ago, I think it was on ebay, a '63 Impala convertible, non SS, 409/340, automatic, a/c, white body, black top, red interior, was for sale at I believe $32,000.00. I bit much for me at that time and besides, I had no place to put it. Regardless of what the price might be now, if that car was offered for sale again, it would be in my garage as we talk. I think the seller was from California. That car matched the one I had except for the drivetrain. Seems like everytime I reminisce about a car, it cost me a small fortune lol, Carmine.
