Thanks Bruce. I agree it is a '64. I did some research and '64's had the best looking tail lights. I wasn't able to open the hood but I believe it has a small V8.

I really like the fact your keeping the car a Lemans...Im sure Tons of people out there would have opted to make that a GTO convert Clone

It has a Sprint engine. Extremely rare! It has been authenticated a true OHC 6 SPRINT. I have the badges that go on the front fenders.

Good question. I’m dealing with a young man that tells me he has 15 years experience. He’s a one man shop. Has plenty of pics but nothing recent. I told him no bondo. He told me metal would be flat, but he said he would do the crinkled panel that goes between the hood and the grille and he would paint it to correct code. So that would be a “preliminary”. example of his work. I've given him a 25% deposit to begin the work.

In '69 I bought a nice original '60 Impala Sport Sedan (348/PG/PS/PB/A-C) for $200 to drive around in while I was in L.A. on leave enroute to assignment in Japan. When I left for Japan I left the keys with a brother. On my return from Japan the car was gone. Depending on who you believe, either brother #2 sold it for gas money or brother #3 abandoned it to a garage after getting a bill he didn't like for replacing a broken motor mount and the garage sent it to the crusher. I got this Belair not too long ago as a replacement. Fond memories!

On our way back to the Bay Area we laid over at our beach house in Pismo Beach. This morning I went to the Derelicts of Pismo car meet that they have every Saturday morning, weather permitting. Right off the bat I saw this beautiful ‘63 Impala SS. I struck up a conversation with the young man who owns and restored the car. I found out he has parts I need to restore mine. It was a good coincidence. He might help with my restoration.
