I have a 1979 Ford F100 I bought new. As soon as I had to replace the battery, I acquired a CAT battery out of a Caterpillar. It was just the right size for the battery storage slot. I NEVER had any issues with power. I finally had to replace it after about 15-18 years. Not because of it being worn out,, the post broke and when I went to replace the post, I broke the battery post and I was afraid of the acid spilling out. I could jump start cars, power many, many lights and everything else. I guess that was a deep cycle battery and I could never get it low enough to need a charge. Best thing I ever did! I have a new battery in it now, but I have a battery tender on it to keep it charged in the garage.

Just bought a Die Hard for the Suburban. GI discounted to about $120.00 3 yr warranty.
The one I was replacing, a AA brand was 3 mo's out of the 3 yr warranty.
A catch on the warranty...The "prorated cost" is based on list price.
Bought a 2018 GMC Terrain with a 2.0 turbo I'm on my 2nb battery 1st one no warning went in garage and it wouldn't even release the door locks. New type battery GLA I think.

DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE AN INTERSTATE BATTERY DISTRIBUTOR IN THEIR AREA?
I buy ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL my batteries (blem) from the Interstate distributor here in Okla City-------------------------------$49 out the door with exchange. I just got home from buying a type 27 battery for the airplane tug, at $49.
If there is an Interstate distributor in your area, call and ask them if they sell blems.
I've sold, in my business, and have always used Interstate for 40 years plus..

The local Interstate dealer was a real jackass when he tested my old one. Using the old style tester, he hit the switch and in about 3-4 seconds let go and said it's good, nothing wrong with it. I told him to leave it on longer and he refused. Then I asked if I could read the instructions on the tester and he covered it up and put it down at his side that was away from me. He asked what was wrong with it and I told him that if I had to crank the engine a little while it would get real slow. He replied that there was something wrong with my car. Eventually I got a new pro rated price one. I should check the current one by not pumping the throttle and see if it cranks a while or dies fast, then if needed, find a different dealer! It normally starts as fast as a fuel injected engine, but if it's real hot and the carb boils over, it will take some cranking.

I don't know about other batteries but when AC Delco went from 5-7 year warranties that were pro rated to a straight 3 year warranty with no pro rate it was really a better option I think. with the pro rated warranty you only had 1 year free replacement (I think it's been a while) then it was pro rated by the time it was around 4 or 5 years old the pro rating replacement figured at list, cost more than you could find the same battery at a discounted price most anywhere else. With the 3 year they just replaced a bad battery at no cost to the customer.I also think the reason we see a shorter life span on batteries is that the amount of electronics on a modern car just pull more of a constance draw. The 2013 Avalon we bought had a warranty history of battery replacement but the car was 5 years old when we bought it with only 23000 miles at the time which means it wasn't being driven a lot.I replaced the battery once since then & the car now has 85000. Don't give me grief this is the first non GM car I've ever owned ( it's my wife's) since I was 16 & I have to say it's been a good one.Three other Chevies in my drive way + the 56 in the garage.
I bought a 2014 Cadillac CTS in September of 2021 with not quite 70,000 miles on it and was surprised to learn the 36 month AC Delco battery from the factory was still in the car after 8 years. It's one you don't want to replace at a cost of $345 including the labor to tear half the trunk apart. I recall the days when they ran about $20 and you could drop them in yourself in 10 minutes. 😞

On battery # 3 since buying a 02 Tundra new 20 yrs ago ... I've never got less than 6-7 yrs out of any new battery ever except for one that was "borrowed" from my VW Thing (without asking) years ago. Seems about the norm for most friends as well , don't know why, maybe related to SoCal climate.
I have an 01 tundra I think I’m on my third battery also. It’s been really great only recently did I put the third battery in like two weeks ago. I tundras quite an amazing vehicle. With your O2 have you had any problems with it sounds like it hasn’t been but I’m just asking I’ve heard that 02 and 03 were questionable years. Let me know if you get a chance. Love my tundra four-door with a 8’ bed.

So what is the final vote on the best battery? I am wondering what to do also, i bought 4 from napa, and they all are getting weak (CCA down on them all) they are about 2 yrs old, they are the 40 month batteries. Napa also is not doing the pro rate anymore. I figured for my hot rods i would buy a cheaper battery. I keep them all on their own float charger. I had 2 exide and a fleet farm roadrunner battery go bad, a ac delco as well.( All just a couple years old) I have 18 cars and sometimes my friends will give me their old batteries when they replace theirs ( because of age) the oldest ones i have are the Walmart ones ( over 8 yrs old and still have decent CCA) what ever you do dont fall for this stuff: Charge-It CH-77QHD Battery Additive, Quart i did as they instructed with the batteries above ( except the fleet farm as it was sealed, even tried to pry off the caps but no luck) the batteries were weak, and i thought i would give this snake oil a try, one of them it did nothing, its still the same , the other 2 will no longer take a charge of any kind, when i hook up my float chargers to them the lights on them just flash. JB tools refuses to refund me, and the manufacturer just ignores me. Two years before i also had 4 batteries go bad , thats why i bought the napas, never had this bad of luck with batteries!!! One of these 4 was a Mopar battery i bought in 1996!!!! Had in my wifes GTA that she only drives about 100 miles a year.

I just replaced one in a 2003 trailblazer we have that appeared to have been 8 years old but I can't verify that.
I just replaced my 2000 Silverado in the early spring of this year (2022), because it went dead with a snap of a finger. It one of those things you don't keep in mind on how long the battery was in there, unless you have problems right off the bat. The one that was in it was the top of the line $225.00 plus Deka battery, that are made outside of Reading, PA area, & to my surprise when looking at the date when installed, it lasted 14 years 4 months out a a 5 year warranty battery that was bought back in November, 2007. My truck is not kept in an enclosed climate control garage, just under a carport, & in Pennsylvania we have all sorts of temperature swings that are way below freezing to 100 through out the year. I tried to track down the exact same battery, & all of the Dealers of Deka batteries in my area told me they do not offer this model battery anymore, since 2015. I guess they performed better then they expected, so lets discontinue this model.

One of the biggest factors about a battery, is where you live. If your antique auto pick up truck is in Florida when the temperature gets really hot in the summer, it will destroy your battery every 2 to 3 years. Now you can put it inside or you can put it in the fridge raider and sounds crazy but it’ll make your battery last a lot longer.

I've bought most of my batteries over the years from Fleet Farm. I've had five running classic cars at a time. They use to last about 3 years before they started failing. Then I started using a battery maintainer plugged whenever not in use. My Camaro had one last 10 years. These were usually 5 year warranty batteries. I had cycle batteries from FF on a maintainer last 7 years, where Harley batteries lasted about 4-5. My 11 Silverado went out after 5+ years, so I put in an Interstate. It's 5 years old now and still going well.

I have always had good luck with Interstate batteries. Have them in all my vehicles.

I always used Interstate 12 volt flooded marine starting (i.e. NOT deep cycle) batteries (Group 24) in my boat for decades for the main cranking batteries for the engines.
Usually got about 7 years out of them. Interstate part number 24M-XHD. MSRP is $150 on the Interstate Battery website. This battery is rated at 1,000 cranking amps and 800 cold cranking amps.
