i have a 57 belair 4 door sport coupe, just recieved from family member and has been stored for 30+ years, anyway the door to quarter pannel gap is real close at the top and about right at the bottom, well when you lift the car on a lift (buy lifting the car by the frame all the door gaps line up perfectly, it is like the body is sagging, is this normal for the 4 door hard tops? if so is there a fix for it or do you just adjust the fenders and doors as the car would be sitting on the ground? thanks

:sign0016: to Trifive. Glad you joined us. As for your body flex question. I would inspect all your body mount bushings. They could be do for replacement. But it is normal for the body to flex when lifted by the frame. My '57 2dr hrdtps doors will not close if I place jackstands under my frame.

Welcome to Tri Five. Also check the floor braces under it since the 4dr hardtops are prone to the center braces rotting out it seems.

This is exactly the problem on my sport sedan aaaaaand... it sags in the middle and pinches toward the roof. Middle brace is virtually gone, the frame support bracket gone, too. I got lucky and found a good donor middle brace since these aren't reproduced yet.

Good luck with your project! It's nice seeing the sport sedans get some love :)
