I have been wanting to upgrade my engine to something that is more roadworthy for some time now and I pulled the trigger yesterday. A 350 popped up on Craigs that had a lot of work done on it and the guy needs the money and decided to part with it instead of his 54' Bel Air 2-door sport. This is what I bought:

In addition to what you see, it came with polished shorty headers, chrome alternator, new plugs, cap, rotor, pulleys, starter and a matching oil pan like the valve covers.

He needs work so I am also paying him to help with the remove and install. He even brought his engine stand and cherry picker over when he delivered the stuff yesterday.

Today I went to Jim's Chevrolet in Rancho Cordova and bought the 3/4 inch forward engine mounts and rubber bushings.

Looks like I am going to finally have to bite the bullet and swap out my generator driven power steering with the new 605 PS system too. Jim's has that for about $600 with the hoses. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

OH yea! I have a big smile on my face and am having a hard time sleeping!

I forgot to mention that I also bought a rebuilt 350 trans with a stage 2 shift kit and 2200 stall converter from him for $200. I do have another trans that was supposed to have been rebuilt but I think I am going with this one.

Great score Don.....Good for you!:):):)

Are you swapping out the P/S, because you want to.:confused0006: You can go to an alternator and use a traditional P/S pump, mounted to the block.

Thanks David. I do have another pump I can mount but my control valve does leak intermittentantly so I am considering doing the upgrade. Must admit I am running low on funds though. I do have to buy a chromed fuel pump to go with this though.

Congrats on you score and what a deal that you are helping him out. Hope the install goes well. post pics
I'm the one that's glad he can help me out. I also plan on having him help re-install my engine out of the turquoise 57' into the 57' 210 I have been working on. Then I will have an extra 57' 283 sitting around.
