Hi guy's, I changed to disc brakes up front. Forgot to bench bleed the master, so can a guy gravity bleed? I opened all 4 got fluid running in the front ones and closed them. Now it's been about 3 hrs. and nothing coming out in the back ones. Does it take a long time to make it to the rear. I do have a proportioning valve. Help please. T

T.C, You should open all your bleeders and give the pedal a few gentle strokes, care to not bottom out the pedal. Hold the pedal down, while closing all the bleeders, then starting at the furthest wheel, pumping the pedal gently care not to bottom out the pedal. Bled until all the signs of are are gone. Note: Aggressive pedal pumping, could cause the proportioning valve to move out of the neutral position.

I used a vacuum bleeder on mine, worked really well. maybe I got lucky but I didn't bench bleed mine and it all works fine.

Auggie nailed it on the fronts vs. rears on the gravity bleeding. The residual pressure valve gets in the way of gravity bleeding if you have one. For the same reason, it's why vacuum bleeding is sometimes troublesome on drum rears.

I don't think bench bleeding the master cylinder is essential, but it does speed things up.

Some people like speed bleeders and others detest them.

I prefer to run a hose from the bleeder fitting to a jar of brake fluid, making sure the hose is below the top of the liquid.

With a speed bleeder, you still have to open it and close it. And you need to put a hose on it unless you don't care about getting brake fluid everywhere.

So when used with a hose, all it does is relieve you of having the end of the hose actually in the fluid. The jar of fluid doesn't really need to be new clean fluid even. You're just making sure that no air gets back in through the fitting.
