The drive train is finally done. So I'm figuring I need to be able to stop this thing. So disc brakes are next. So I have a question. Which wheels? I'd like to keep the stock appearance on the outside. I've been looking at both Ecklers & Classic Industries. The wheels that look like they'd work have double amouts of holes in them??? Am I looking at the right thing? The reps on the phone tell me that's what I want. What I don't like is the note regarding painting the wheels. It says fit the hub caps first.

Anyone out there dealt with this?

I suggest calling a shop that specializes in Tri-5 suspensions and brakes, such as Williams Classic Chassis.

Also here are a few threads on the subject:

Finally, I have heard very good things about these drum brake kits, when used on early 60s Corvettes and 67-70 pickups:

If your car is otherwise stock, I'd go this route.

I was sure that I saw a thread that now allows a front disc end replacement with stock looking rims that clears the calipers.

You`ll have to swap out the rims which Danchuk distribute :anim_25:

Brake lines and Fuel lines

I am restoring a 56 2dr Hdtp and have finished the suspension and the frame and I am trying to install new ss brake lines and fuel lines but I forgot to take a picture of the proper routing of these lines. Does anyone know where I can get or look at a picture or skecth of the proper locations for these lines?
I appreciate your input.

I installed an entire kit from Danchuk - front discs, minimum offset, w/power booster & m. cylinder, prop. valve & etc. Special wheels, maintaining the original 14in, are required to clear calipers which are available also from Danchuk. It all works fine.

Hey Guys, Does anyone know if the 15" Wheel vintiques series 64 chrome standard style wheels fit disc brakes? I have Australian HQ Holden (GM) discs on the front and these cars came out with 14" x 5" rims which cleared the calipers. I also have Ford discs on the rear from about '72 on a 9" and these cars had 14" wheels also. I emailed vintiques for the specs but alas no reply.

cheers!
