So last weekend i had the 55 out at my aunt and uncles house for my sisters birthday, one of my uncles has never been in my car since the bbc swap. So i took him and my brother in law for a little **** ride. Mind you I have about 500 horse with 560ftlbs, autogear m-22, with a stock posi 4.11. I decided to stop on one of our straight aways and launched the car at 4000 riped into second and then boom, driveshaft hits the floor and i hits my brothers foot bruised the **** out of it. Now i am on the side of a main road, my dad picks my uncle and I up in his 48 to bring us to get my truck so i can go and get my buddies car trailer. Now keep in mind its my sisters birthday and my brother in law is waiting with my car. We pull up with the trailer and DEP is there with the lights going, i see a huge puddle of gear lube on the road and say ***** im going to get a ticket for that. Turns out the guy really liked my car and didnt want any one to hit and was giving fair warning to traffic. Gotta love law enforcement who are car guys. Any how i got a chance to look at the car, and found that i sheared off the pinion yoke where the u-joint sits.
I guess the word of advice I would give, is dont put a big power plant in you car unless you upgrade everything, oh well gives me good reason for the ford 9" with nodluer case.

Broke yoke ?

JP while your replacing the yoke get a forged yoke for 1350 series joints.

yeah when i can afford the new rear i plan on using 1350s, seems like the best way to go if you going to spend the $$$

hate to ask, but how do u like the autogear m-22 ?
How much torque and horse power do they guarantee it for?

I love that tranny, got the close ratio. I am note sure what the rating on horsepower but i am pretty sure torque is 650+. the tranny is very stout, i shreaded my m20, and if you compare them side by side well there is no comparison. Definitly worth the 1900 shipped to my front door.

We kids??, i get called that alot considering i am only 28, and the car guys i hang out with are pretty much double my age if not older. But i love to hear all the remember when stories and what not. As far as the party went, we missed dinner, and got a little bit of the cold shoulder with the stink eye..

Besides yokes the driveshaft will break where the u joint piece is welded to the driveshaft i tell guys to put in driveshaft straps but nobody listens, well some do.
