I have a 1957 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton 8 cylinder pickup truck. The first problem I will be addressing is the speedometer. It does not move at all, I tried replacing the speedometer cable and that did not fix the problem. I tried connecting one end of the speedometer cable to the back of the cluster and the other end I connected to a drill I used the drill as if it were the gear in the transmission, even after I tried that the needle did not move.

any suggestions on what i should try next?

It could be the speedo is just dirty and gummed up. Pull it, clean it, lubricate it and test it again.
