According to the chart listed on this site my 56 must have been built the first day or two of October 55, in LA number 1163, the 163rd built. My question is would it be probable or possible for it to have been produced with a powerglide dated J145. Sept,14,55 or am I figuring wrong?????

J 14 would be October 14th, I 14 would be September. Sept. 14th on an early October built car is probable.

I thought that I had read somewhere that they did not use the letter "I" in their coding....that they skipped it for some reason. Thanks for the reply....

It looks like you're the owner of the lowest SN that I've seen thus far. My LA built 56 has a SN of 001963. Darn it!

You are correct, for Powerglide casting codes there was no letter I, so J = September.
