Fill the trans pan until it shows full on the dipstick. Start the engine and move the shifter through all positions. Shut the engine off and fill again to the mark on the dipstick. Start the engine, move the shifter through all positions and check the level. It will probably be low again. Fill it until it shows full with everything warmed up.
If everything was completely dry it will take about 10-13 quarts of ATF.
