I just purchased a 3.55 ratio 3rd member which has gaulded spider gears. Obviously these will need replaced. I've never went through a 3rd member before, so I'm curious if you could swap a set of spider gears out of another 3rd member which is not the same ratio or not. I think you can, but I'm not 100% sure.

I probably should save myself the trouble and purchase new ones.

Thanks,
Ryan

I'd use an old set of spiders as long as they're good , and I'd change the side gears too , so the whole set is kept together . If the spider gears are "galled" , so are the side-gears . Keep the set together . Be safe...Bob.

Sure you can.

Why not think about upgrading to a posi unit? The stock spiders are the weakest link in these rears and going to a posi changes that.

Haven't really thought about a posi unit. My intentions were to leave it bone stock. The car won't have a ton of HP going back to it.
I shouldn't have any problems finding a decent set of gears to swap.
Thanks for all your feedback!
