None of that push button electronic crap for you right @mr55/56 ?!?
None of that push button electronic crap for you right @mr55/56 ?!?This thread got me to thinking all my late model junk has a fuel door, very similar to my 55, even my Moms Caddy which has no gas cap.
Avoid it whenever possible.None of that push button electronic crap for you right @mr55/56 ?!?
Absolutely the only answer that matters. Otherwise go get a suburban or some nasty little crossover thing. Why @BamaNomad ?? Because I like it.
Thanks for the positive feedback @iquitos46 !!Absolutely the only answer that matters. Otherwise go get a suburban or some nasty little crossover thing.
Very cool @55 Rescue Dog !!I came up with a simpler solution to eliminate my 55 fuel door. Works every time as long as the trunk opens.
Thanks so much for the positive words @Postman57 !!Not sure why there is so much negativity. Complex solution to a simple problem? Perhaps. But it’s clever and cool and this whole hobby is about doing things out of want and interest rather than necessity.
Thanks @Lukie !! I think it's cool too.I watched the video and they are very cool! I'm glad that Rocky Hinge is a quality company. I'm sure they stand behind their product.
But to Mikey's original point, I am curious about what you do if it ever does fail? Maybe this was addressed and I somehow missed it?
My body shop guy was not gung ho to shave my door handles, door locks and trunk locks, for the simple fact that eventually the relays might fail or the key fob thingy to open them has a dead battery. I wanted all this stuff shaved for the same reasons as you getting this cool gas door, - because it's cool! However, safeguards were built it to the car. Most guys who shave their doors have a hidden door popper somewhere if their key fob thing fails. I have a third way to get into the car if my key fob fails and then my door popper fails. A secret pull cable.
I'm just wondering what redundancy you have built-in to allow you to manually gain access to your gas filler, should the worst case scenario happen?
That's awesome @55 Rescue Dog !!Here is the 90-degree filler neck I used inside my trunk, and it was like $60, I think. Yes, I have to be careful not to overfill it or too fast, and keep a towel under it, but the threaded O-ring cap seals tight and doesn't leak.
I've seen em for years too @Robert HaasI have seen those for a few years. Might even consider one in the future. There seems to be a large amount of stories pro and con. It is cool but for anyone to know it is there you have to show them, and that feels a little needy.
How do I find you there? I plugged "Uncle Twist" into their search engine and came up empty.Would you do me a favor?...Gimme a like & subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't already.
I'd appreciate it
Sorry about that @Pops @ Tri-5.comHow do I find you there? I plugged "Uncle Twist" into their search engine and came up empty.
Because the only way anyone will ever know it is there, is for you to show it to them. It looks stock, and unless you show it off ...does that make sense? Why do you think it "feels a little needy?"
Kind of like me showing off my Technostalgia digital taillights to my friends??Because the only way anyone will ever know it is there, is for you to show it to them. It looks stock, and unless you show it off ...does that make sense?
If it makes you happy to fire it up and watch it wiggle everytime you put fuel in your car, then it is doing what you paid for.
DONE!Sorry about that @Pops @ Tri-5.com
