Those were tough cars. My Dad and his younger brother built a race car in the mid 1920s using a Dodge Brothers engine and running gear. They won their share of races in and around the Memphis area with that car.
I understand that Henry ford bought Dodge tranny's for his model T's, on one condition that they built the crate to his exact specifications to ship them in.
WHY? because he used the wood crate pieces in the model T floor boards and other areas where he used wood. Saved money buying and building the wood pieces as they were all out of the Dodge transmission crates.
