Did any 56 Chevy Car have a Manual Choke?? I guess what I am asking is: Is there a Choke knob made that matches the rest of the dash??
Thanks!!

I don't believe they did... PO installed one on my 56 and it's mounted under the dash left of my left kick panel vent knob... It almost doesn't show down there... Later, Dave

I didn't remember there being one for cars. I know trucks had them, because i have the knobs in both my cameo and panel.
I bought a manual choke Edelbrock Carb for my Wagon, and then thought about the knob and cable. I will probably go with the under dash idea. Thanks!!!!

Both my trucks also have a Throttle knob. Chrome knob with a Big T on it. I used it as a kind of Cruise control for long drives. I am not sure about the cars though. If there is one with the matching knob, i would like to sue it, if not i can go aftermaket and put it under the dash.
I have said it before up here, I know tons more about 55-57 trucks than I do about the same year cars. Since 1982 I have had 3 cameos, a Panel and 7 Stepsides.

LS....I remember throttle knobs from the good ole days....My little pee brain is trying to figure out how to hook up a throttle cable without interfering with the accelerator action.

If I'm not mistaken they use a throttle rod that is in a throttle tube... More to it than just a knob... Later, Dave

The throttle cable hooks to linkage on the firewall mounted piece. That isn't a good decription but i have them on both my trucks and there is no interference. I am looking to use the cable as a choke cable if i don't add an Auto choke.

I`m pretty sure you can use a vent knob for the throttle set up which can be mounted under the dash which comes with everything you need knob, bracket and wire cable, you may need to cut the cable to length

I am sure that will work, I just want to keep all the stock knobs. I know I have a Vent knob, braket and cable from a 56 truck. I may just use that.
Thanks!!

I dug through a box of truck parts and found the original Vent knobs for my panel. I had removed them and replaced them with Chrome ones. I think I will use that as my starting point. After all they're original 56, even though they are truck. In the future, I may do the wiper knob swap, but for now it will work.

It was just a slider cable that wouldn;t let the throttle return to full rest.
