Some thing new happen late this afternoon, When puttn 55 in shop, all of a sudden the clutch pedal went to floor first, got her inside, and then grabbed pedal and u can pull it all way up past brake pedal, everything underneath still hooked up and adjusted.

havnt look at it yet, but, what happened, something went out of adjustment? Never had a issue with this ever since owning car< 25yrs>
thoughts, ideas to look for tomorrow.

Something in the linkage broke. Your pedal arm stop is also missing. The spring under the dash is what pulled it up when the linkage broke. Same spring can pull it to the floor. Which explains why both happened.

Randy: Here's a guess on what may have happened. First crawl under the dash and look up at the clutch linkage adjustment. You should see a round rod which comes through the firewall and goes up to a bracket which is bolted to a horizontal rod and acts as pivot point or hinge. You will see that this bracket is secured to this splined horizontal bolt with a u-bolt clamp. If this bolt has loosened then the clutch pedal can swing freely without engaging the rod that goes down to the throw out bearing meaning the pedal can rotate freely without engaging the linkage. While lookiing at this assembly move the pedal with your hand to determine if is slipping around the pivot point instead of grabbing as it should be.

If you go to a shop manual (which i believe we have on line) you can get a better idea of the whole linkage assembly.
Good luck
