I've had some small issues and have ran myself ragged trying to figure it out. The 56 ran 200 degrees at 65 highway cruising and 190 around town with a 180 stat. If I drove somewhere and shut it off, on restart it cranked for awhile before it fired. It basically acted like it was flooded. I have suspected the ethanol additive in the gas causing boiling in the float bowls. It had a very slight stumble on stop light take off. I had it running this morning after getting back from town and noticed the electric fan was blowing really hot air right into the snorkles on my air cleaner. Couple that with headers and it makes for some serious under hood heat getting sucked down the carb. I went to Lowes and bought two dryer wall mounts and some dryer hose. I removed the flaps in the wall mounts. After 20 minutes, I had a ******* cold air kit for under $20. Although I would'nt have this on a show car it fixed all my little issues! I have been out driving for an hour in 90 degree outside heat. My coolant temp is 8-10 degrees cooler! The car is alot more responsive and the coolest thing was shutting it off and waiting 2 minutes, and it fired right up without the long cranking! I am a happy camper now.

I don't know. It was a poorly chromed piece that was in the trunk of a 55 I drug home. I believe it is an old aftermarket maybe made overseas.

Great!

Congratulations Hafrod!!:congrats: The fact that you solved all the problems with your driveability issues is awesome. Your solution looks great - even the radiator overflow container (Mr. Pibb)! :)

Not a bad set up at all. I used to have a 6cyl MGC that had the cold air intake like yours with an added feature. It had in the 4" line an electric air pump that added some speed and pressure to the cold are intake. I never figured out if that pump added some poop or not, but the car ran a top.

AIR CLEANER

EARLY TO MID 80'S CORVETTE'S( I BELIEVE THESE WERE L-82'S) AND SOME CAMARO'S HAD THIS STYLE AIR CLEANER'S . CORVETTE COULD EVEN BE HAD WITH THE CHROME LID. JUST BE SURE TO ADD A K & N AIR CLEANER TO IT.

We can tell he's an okee - here in Texas we use Dr. Pepper bottles!:sign0020:

that is slick and what re-engineering is all about. Did it fix the stumbles?
