I have a question about the PT relay on a Connect and cruise fuse box. What purpose does this relay serve? After chasing the power circuits that it serves, it would appear that all of these circuits could be served by the switched ignition relay, but clearly there is a reason that GM chose to use a separate relay to activate these circuits. What is the logic that activates this relay, and why can't these circuits be fed from the ignition on relay? I am building a 66 nova right now and there is not room for that huge GM fusebox, without it being butt-ugly, so I have deleted the fusebox and am hiding relays and small fuseblocks on the inside of my center console. I am using a PT relay, since I am sure that there is a good reason that GM felt it necessary to switch these 5 circuits separately, but my curiosity needs to know why.
