Just replaced the short water pump on my 283. I appear to have a leak somewhere but cannot readily locate it. Does not appear to be coming from the bolts and everything is back on properly. The leak is dripping from the frame directly below the timing chain cover if that helps.

I dont think it was leaking before so I'm stumped

Any ideas??:p3::p3:

Wipe the bottom of the water pump clean, it may be a gasket, did you use any sealant?

You should be able to track the leak if its dripping.

No didnt think to use sealant on the bolts, will try that in the morning for sure. Thanks for that.

It's dark here now so hopefully can track it down in the morning. Have a can catching the clean fluid for reuse!

Is there any chance of it being anything more serious, I don't know if there are any freese plugs that low or where exactly the water jackets go.

Or is it simply likely to be the bolts?

Thanks again.

Is there a weep hole in the pump itself ,usually on the bottom side ,near the shaft,, you could of gotten a bad pump the bearing is no good and it will leak out that hole ,,,:anim_25:
